Dust collectors are pieces of equipment used in factories, plants, and warehouses to manage air pollution to maintain environmental safety requirements. Type of pollutants can differ, therefore dust collectors are designed specific to the hazardous particles dispersed. Shaker dust collectors function through a shake cleaning baghouse system, either cleaning off-line when the airflow is temporarily halted or sections the baghouse into compartments. Compartmentalized designs offer continuous cleaning of the unit while allowing for the individual compartments to be taken offline for servicing. Shaker dust collectors are common where it is impractical to supply compressed air for bag cleaning, such as foundries, steel mills, power plants, smelting plants, and mining plants. Pulse-jet dust collectors have a bag cleaning system operated via a rapid, high pressure air jet cleaner that sends a blast or shock of air through the bag that shatters and discharges the dust cake for disposal. Pulse-jet dust collectors are most useful in environments where bulk solids are processed, including chemical/mineral production, food processing plants, and metal fabrication. Cartridge collectors have a fabric filter that is designed for specific applications. Is smaller; however, provides the same airflow and purification, requiring less filters than a larger baghouse system. Cyclone dust collectors purify air by separate dust from a gas stream through centrifugal force, removing heavier/oversized particles mixed with dust. These dust collectors are typically used as “pre-cleaners” before bag houses, often being used in woodworking, pulp/paper manufacturing, shot blasting, mills, grain/agriculture, and recycling plants. Electrostatic precipitators separate soot, ash, and dust from exhaust gasses using static electricity by negatively charging airborne particles while they flow through an ionized field between the electrodes. Electrostatic precipitators are often used to purify industrial power plants managing fossil fuels, oil, and coal.
