  New "Standard" For Rating Used Equipment Condition
 
With more than (17) years in the Used Equipment business and over (10,000) pieces of equipment bought and sold, we're looked upon as something of an "institution" in the field of Woodworking Machinery. Over the years we have created quite a few "industry firsts" that later became common practice by many in the business.
 
Rating the condition of used machinery is very subjective since the buyer and seller's perspective of the same machine can be as different as "night and day".  We wanted a rating system to minimize subjective evaluation, and in other cases, remove "fluffy marketing language" common in our Industry. - The result:  A new rating "standard" to be used by everyone listing equipment on our website.
 
Our new Used Equipment machinery rating system consists of (10) condition levels and is based on a 10-point system with "10" being the top "New, Never Used" rating and with "0" at the bottom for "good for spare parts only".  Each rating has a (2 - 3) point spread allowing for some up-or-down "fine tuning" within a specific rating level.
 
To see the ratings at a glance, we adopted a "visual" 5-paw symbol      (similar to 5-star) on our web pages where each paw represent (2) points, a half-paw is 1-point.  A brief definition for each rating explains the condition statement.
 
This new 10-level condition rating system just might become another Industry-wide standard.

RATING POINTS PAWS DESCRIPTION
Brand New with Warranty 10 Machine is still in a crate or on a shipping skid; or will ship directly from a New Equipment  warehouse or the OEM.  It carries the full manufacturer's warranty.  These warranties vary & you should check the specifics of any warranty prior to purchase.
New, Never Used 9  - 10  
 to
 Machine might have never been installed, or was placed under power only to demonstrate production use; may still carry the manufacturer's warranty.  This warranty might be “limited” ,and you should make yourself familiar with the specifics of any warranty prior to purchase.
Excellent Condition 7  -  9  to
 Has the appearance of a "near new" machine and shows less than normal  wear-and-tear. No broken part(s) or defect(s) that effect the machine's function. Should operate without repair after proper installation and the commonly required setup adjustments.  Includes manuals, tool kit, and originally supplied safety devices.  - No guarantee. 
Reconditioned 8  -  9
 to
 Removed from service in need of repair and possibly stored for period of time.  Reconditioned by OEM or experienced Technician where it was partially disassembled.  All necessary repairs were made including replacement of worn parts.  Exterior paint has been touched up or machine has been repainted to like new appearance.   Tested prior to shipment for functionality and includes a 30-day guarantee.
Very Good Condition 6   -  8 
to 
 Machine is still under power or can be placed under power for inspection. Machine appears to have seen a normal amount of use and has been well-maintained.  Appears to have original parts; original metal surfaces smooth with all edges sharp; clear lettering and numerals; manual(s) should be included.  – No guarantee.
Cleaned & Checked 5  -  7
to 
 Taken from service in good operating condition; upon receipt of order and prior to shipment will be cleaned thoroughly and minor repairs made as needed; machine will be tested with material or cycled through all operating functions; manuals and special wrenches may or may not be included. – No guarantee.
Good Condition 3  -  6
to 
 Runs and is considered operational – but might require some adjustments or a good “tune-up”; cosmetically acceptable, but with some scratches, dents and/or faded paint. Might have been repaired in the past and may be missing accessories, manuals, and wrenches. – No guarantee.
Fair Condition 2  -  5

 Will run, but cosmetically and/or mechanically questionable. May have multi-colored or flaking paint, worn parts, or noticeable previous repairs. May be missing parts and/or tooling, manuals, and wrenches. Shows noticeable wear that might affect the use of equipment. – No guarantee.
Requires Repair 0  -  2
to 
 Machine was reported as needing specific repairs when removed from service. Machine shows okay in photos, but has not been checked by a technician. Machine will need repair prior to use, and/or is a good candidate for rebuilding or reconditioning.
Parts Machine 0  -  1

 Older machine in poor condition. Sold for parts only. It has broken or missing parts and maybe no tooling or manuals. Could potentially be repaired, but doesn’t appear to be economically feasible.
As-Is,
good or bad		 0  -  5

 Machine removed from service and not under power. The fitness of the unit is unknown and its current condition has not been verified; hence it’s being offered “As-Is”. It may be in very good shape; it might require some repair and may also be missing parts and/or tooling, manuals, and wrenches. – No guarantee.
 
Note:  EX-FACTORY strongly encourages inspections and questions of all machines prior to shipping.  EX-FACTORY will disclose any known faults or defects.
